L’OFFICINA DEI TALENTI
The Officina dei Talenti is the Cartier jeweller’s academy for higher education. Its goal: to attract and nurture future talents in the jewellery sector.
The Officina dei Talenti is reserved for small groups of aspiring jewellers who have completed training courses in the field. It is dedicated to those who want to continue growing as professionals within a prestigious and highly innovative industry.
YOUR TRAINING, OUR FUTURE
THE PROGRAMME
The Officina dei Talenti includes initial full-time training lasting 18 days (144 hours), led by one of the Maison’s experienced jewellers.
The course takes place in Turin, the centre of Italian production for the Maison’s jewellery. Activities are split between theory lessons and practical exercises. With the support of Cartier instructors, students work directly on the Cartier’s iconic creations. At the end of the course, the best and most interested students will have the opportunity to continue nurturing their talent as jewellers employed by Cartier.
The Cartier jeweller’s academy is completely free, and each participant is offered an allowance for expenses.

3 WEEKS
FULL-TIME TRAINING
During this stage, participants will learn about Cartier's expertise and savoir-faire. They will learn the key manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, finishing and welding, and will have the opportunity to become acquainted with every stage of production; from the individual components to quality control.
At the same time, the programme will involve team activities and the development of soft skills such as effective communication, teamwork, and conflict management, amongst others, to help participants work better together in a production context.
Participants who attend at least 70% of the course will receive a maximum reimbursement of €500 from Cartier. Students having to travel may also be entitled to free hotel accommodation for the duration of the course. -
END OF COURSE
EXAM
Over the weeks of training, there will be several practical exercises on Cartier products, and each participant will receive feedback on how to improve.
At the end of the programme, participants will take an oral exam. If successful, they will be offered the opportunity to become an Apprentice Jeweller with a six-month contract at the centre of Italian production.

2 + 4 MONTHS
WORKSHOP MENTORSHIP
The contract involves two months under a mentor followed by four months of independent work.
Participants will embark on their professional career within our production teams. Supported by more experienced jewellers, in order to consolidate their skills, participants will work on the Maison's creations.
Once this period of mentorship is over, and based on the stage reached, all participants will be able to begin work in our workshop, specialising in an area that most suits their skill set. -
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
After six months, the Apprentice Jewellers are assessed and offered a new long-term work contract to continue their career. This is a great opportunity to continue your professional development. You can become, for all intents and purposes, a Maison Cartier jeweller.

When you’re taught something, try not to always do it the same way; use this time to find your method, discussing it with others as well. When I started working on my own, I encountered a lot of issues because of my disorganisation, until my tutors helped me organise myself to work in a better, stress-free way.
Here, everyone has the opportunity to grow, to overcome their weaknesses. You learn that time spent making mistakes is essential in order to truly understand and avoid them in the future. This is also why I think the best moments are yet to come!”

“Being accepted by the Officina dei Talenti felt incredible and like a real victory, for my parents as well; after some time in a marketing job in Messina, there were actually a lot of people who thought I would never become a jeweller.
I’d never used numerical control components or made bracelets before, so I’d never had the challenge of creating joints, safety catches, or closures. At the OdT I learnt how to use innovative new machines, which allowed me to work in a multifaceted way.
In general, I discovered that at Cartier, learning extends well beyond the Officina dei Talenti: the work you do day-to-day is continuous training. It’s a team effort, too! For me, jewellery making has always meant shutting myself off from the outside world, isolating myself, and concentrating. But at Cartier, being lonely is impossible: there are always discussions and lots of communication, also about the different production methods.
People—the tutors especially—bring a feeling of calm, a strong sense of belonging, and the awareness that we’re all part of the same team. I thought working in a multinational company would mean facing competition and a challenging pace, but there is a lot of consideration for the commitments everyone has outside of work. I never would have imagined it to be so flexible. Although production has a tight and definitive schedule, work is still relaxing thanks to good planning, receptive ears, and variety: over the course of the month, products are alternated. Every morning we have a meeting to share the team’s targets and propose improvements in everyone’s interest.”

There wasn’t really a “most educational moment”, since every day was a building block for creating solid foundations, and building the future—ours and Cartier’s. For the final oral exam at the OdT, I was both anxious and delighted. It was a huge pleasure, both personally and professionally, to be taken on by Cartier.

“Before joining the Officina dei Talenti, I worked in a goldsmith’s in Crotone, a private workshop specialising in handmaking wax for the creation of unique pieces.
I’d always loved my work, but I felt the lack of a more corporate vision, which I found once I became part of Cartier.
The Officina dei Talenti surprised me because, coming from my small world, I didn’t think I would find so much humanity, so much care for people, for every step that the work involves.
The Officina dei Talenti was an amazing personal challenge. It gave me a chance to test my skills at the work bench, in front of real experts in the field.
The most difficult moment was probably when they taught us how to weld with a laser. It was a completely new tool for me, but I came to love it. Generally speaking, compared to where I started, I think I’ve become much more precise and attentive to details. One of my happiest moments was definitely the day I found out that I’d been accepted onto the course… and when I saw my first product, all finished and polished!”
